In his first major action to implement the recommendations of the Regional Affordable Housing Task Force report released in late 2018 County Executive Dow Constantine appointed Patricia Akiyama, MBAKS external relations manager, to a newly formed countywide body of 19 members that will oversee implementation of the task force’s five-year action plan.

The new committee, known as the Affordable Housing Committee of the King County Growth Management Planning Council, comprises local elected officials and stakeholder experts. The focus will be on addressing the severe shortfall of affordable homes in King County to address the Task Force’s findings that 244,000 net new affordable homes are needed by 2040 to ensure that all families have safe and economically accessible housing.

The Committee’s first meeting is today. View the agenda and committee member roster.
