Lake Stevens Council Adopts Permanent Replacement of Design Review Board

The Lake Stevens City Council has adopted permanent code, replacing the Design Review Board. In 2018, the city dissolved the Design Review Board and was under interim regulations for the process. This amendment replaces the interim regulations with permanent ones. The new regulations retain the current administrative review/recommendation process, excludes minor façade changes/upgrades (For example, changing the color scheme, re-roofing, and re-siding do not trigger design review, even if those upgrades cost over $100,000), and will now require public notices will for all new applicable projects.

A public meeting for projects going through design review is optional and will be held upon request from any person submitting a written request for a public meeting during the notice of application comment. The new code also makes the city’s Subarea Design Guidelines now applicable citywide. View the new design review code.
