Local school districts have begun submitting their capital facilities plans to Snohomish County as a precursor to the biannual school impact fee update. The plans must go through the Planning Commission and the County Council for adoption later this year. The related fees will go into effect January 1, 2021.

Notable changes from the current rates in effect are Snohomish, who, having failed to pass their bonds this year, will charge a $6,050 fee. Lake Stevens proposes to increase their fee from $7,085 to $11,890, while Marysville and Edmonds propose to collect no fee.

Members are reminded that Snohomish County recognizes vesting for school impact fees upon complete application for a period of five years. Complete code language can be found at SCC 30.66C.100. See School Impact Fee Spreadsheet.
