This week, the Marysville City Council adopted updates to the city’s Downtown Master Plan (DMP) and Planned Action Ordinance (PAO). The DMP update expands the boundary and updates zoning and design standards. The updated regulations (form-based code) include new block frontage designations and updates to standards, permitted uses, and dimensional standards. The DMP is focused on increased mixed-use commercial and housing opportunities that recognize transportation and transit investments and build on efforts to revitalize the downtown and Ebey waterfront.

Marysville received $125,000 in grant funding from the Department of Commerce, to update the DMP. MBAKS staff served on Mayor Nehring’s Growth Management Taskforce which reviewed and made recommendations on the update. The proposed changes also include amendments to the city’s Multifamily Tax Exemption (MTFE) program to expand it to match the DMP border and to lower the required units from 20 to 10.
