This week, U.S. Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (D, District 1) visited MBAKS to discuss housing priorities and challenges with its members. The conversation covered a range of local and federal issues. On the local front, priorities included comprehensive plan updates, implementing new zoning laws, and accelerating the permit process. At the federal level, discussions focused on the costs and challenges associated with energy codes, transformer supply chain concerns, workforce development and immigration, lending and interest rates, federal permitting issues with the Army Corps of Engineers, and postal service challenges.

Congresswoman DelBene also highlighted her work and sponsorship of current legislation aimed at reforming and expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit to create more affordable housing units. MBAKS remains committed to collaborating with all levels of government to advance housing initiatives.
